SoloPower's advanced electrochemical technology for CIGS solar cell formation is uniquely differentiated from Si-based PV and alternate thin film PV technologies. Our electroplating method has near 100% materials utilization and achieves such efficiency using low cost, roll-to-roll equipment. High materials utilization coupled with the capability of yielding high efficiency devices with thin active layers provide substantial competitive advantage to the SoloPower technology over competing techniques which typically have less than 50% materials utilization and employ high-cost equipment. Although low cost in nature, SoloPower approach yields CIGS absorber layers with excellent compositional control and grain sizes in excess of 2 micrometers.
